Background


Jo Barraket joined the Department in January 2003, and teaches primarily into the Public Policy and Management programs. Jo holds a PhD in applied sociology from the University of New South Wales, and has worked variously as a policy coordinator, research fellow and academic on postgraduate and undergraduate programs at the University of Technology, Sydney and UNSW. She specializes in social policy, with a particular focus on the nexus between state and civil society in social policy development. In recent years, Jo has worked on government commissioned projects in a range of policy areas including: community housing; higher education; equal opportunity in employment; and sustainable community development.
